Surface crack detection on blade edges, titanium
The MDK 30-3 probe is a multi-differential probe. It has a guide groove in the middle between the differential core halves. This is used for the precise positioning on the blade edge and the avoidance of possible latent image effects.
At 4 mm, its active width is very broad and its high frequency range of 10 kHz to 2 MHz enables the testing of high-alloyed materials as well. The signal image displays a natural crack, the setting was calibrated on a reference defect in titanium, 0.2 mm deep.
MDK 30-3 multi-differential probe
Application:
Preferably static surface crack detection on the edges of high-alloyed turbine blades with low conductivity. Largely independent of the direction of the crack due to optimized core circuitry, separation of cracks and phases of iron, probe centering via guide groove.
