Crack detection on the clevises of Cardan shafts

Download Flyer

The semi-automatic system for detecting cracks on clevises, for thread
cutting and for joining the Cardan joints.

The two parts of the Cardan shaft are inserted into the system and positioned manually.
The two parts are then automatically tightened and the 4 test coils are shifted into the
testing position. At the same time, a thread is cut into both ends of the Cardan joints.
Both parts are then joined and the operator removes the finished component. If a crack
is detected on one of the clevises, the system stops before the two individual parts are
joined and the defective part can be removed.

For this customer, the cracks only occur on the outer clevises while the inner parts do not
show any cracks.

Test system:

ELOTEST IS

The ELOTEST IS was optimized for the automatic inspectionand evaluation of continuous materials
and the individual inspection of mass-produced parts and is therefore particularly well-suited for the
production line. The instrument is operated via a clearly structured keypad with a clear assignment
of the functions. This way, even inexperienced users are able to handle the instrument quickly
and safely. The userfriendliness is supported by clear-text messages on the display.

The instrument can store up to 64 applications (instrument settings) which may be called up by
the operator or via the RS232-interface. Using the micro-processor control and the communication interfaces,
the instrument may be easily integrated into production and inspection processes. Depending
on the requirements up to 12 channels may be operated.

In the sort-mode the ELOTEST IS uses a special high-speed technology and is able to inspect up
to 10 parts per second (!). Each part generates a dynamic signal whose maximum value is digitally
stored and displayed on the screen as a dot.

Various gates and counters (also featuring percentage values) are available to evaluate the test results
and trigger sorting switches.

Accessories:

ARK 31-2 inspection probe (absolute probe)
Applications:
Crack detection on processed castings. Crack detection on metal sheets that have been
screwed together or riveted in multiple layers. Little influence from iron screws and rivets
through a focused, ring-shaped eddy current field.
