Surface testing of deep-drawing sleeves

Download Flyer

High precision deep-drawn components are used in diesel and fuel injection systems. These caps and sleeves are also subject to very high pressures, even with wall thicknesses as low as 0.4 mm and must be free from cracks. The task therefore is normally stated as follows: 100% crack testing.

Test areas:
All cylindrical outer surfaces and flanges, shoulders and cap areas

Solution:
Depending on the task, horizontal or vertical rotary indexing tables are used. The specimens are fed in bulk and placed on a rotating changer. Depending on the required cycle time, high resolution sensors move along the cylindrical surfaces at up to 8 test stations. Fixed sensors test shoulder, cap and flange areas. The components also rotate at over 1000 rpm. The sensor clearance is 0.1 mm.

Sensor:
Multi-difference

Fault resolution:
Cracks as little as 60 μm in depth

Cycle time:
Depending on system concept,
50 to 140 components/min

This task can be combined in an integrated system with the monitoring of correct heat treatment and testing for incorrect material.
